That crane is sure to be a hit with the public. It sure stands out almost touching the ceiling.
best of luck
Gday, I truly hope your crane brings home a prize, certainly a room full of talented craftsmanship mate, cheers
Thank you very much.😁
All your models are truly amazing. You are a true master model maker. I would love to have one like I'm sure most model fans would. Do you ever burn the manufacturers name on the boom and counter weights?
Thank you, I don’t usually put any branding on my models except to sign and date them for the customer.
Brilliant as always, you work very quickly. Bry
Thank you.😁
Enjoy the show , but as always your work is perfect.
@@pswoodencrafts4430 Thank you.
Would love to come meet you in person and see your models up close but a little far to come from Canada. Nice work!
@@lunchboxfabrications Thank you very much. There are a couple of my models in Canada, in the Niagara Falls area if I remember correctly.
Great work as usual, attention to detail is at another level. BRY
Thank you.
Wat voor hout wordt hier gebruikt?
I don’t understand
What type of wood is used here
@@pietkuijpers2967 I used walnut and maple.
@@Nansjohn thank you
Beautiful work as always mate
Thank you.
Beautiful job mate
Thank you.
Great work as usual, did you say you posted earlier in the week if so where. Bry
Thank you, I have an Instagram page, @johnmurphy781. I’m also on Facebook and LinkedIn as John Murphy.
Lovely work John,as usual ❤❤
Thank you.
That's a pretty cool way of making the hubs. What sort of wood to you use for the tire portion of the wheels? I often get issues with fluff and uncut fibers from much of the wood that is readily available to me (usually some sort of Eucalypt, as I'm in Australia). Also, have you tried ebonizing the tire wood using iron acetate (steel wool dissolved in vinegar)? I did this on a mine truck I made for my son when he was 2 and it turned out very nicely, the mystery wood I used must have been very high in tannins as they went almost totally black.
I use walnut for the tyres. I’ve never tried to darken them but they look ok after a couple of coats of Danish oil.
Fascinating video. It's actually quite similar to how I've been making my tracks. I'm in the process (a lengthy process, been going about 2 years off and on so far) of making a model Liebherr 9800 mining excavator in wood for my son. Have the tracks finished and part way through the running gear. Do you have any issues with strength of the links since the grain direction is perpendicular to the tension load? For my links, I made a Y shape, with the grain running parallel to the tracks. Once the tread is glued on, this is very robust (so far). Making the Y shapes proved to be quite tedious though, but I got through it eventually by making jigs to hold batches in various stages of completion for cutting on the table saw. Having made a set of tracks myself only increases my appreciation of your patience and attention to accuracy and detail that is necessary to make these. It's very satisfying to get them finished though.
Thank you. I haven’t had any issues with track links breaking yet. I do put a tensioner on my tracks to let them expand and contract as wood never stops moving. I use a spring in the same way the real machine keeps tension with grease and a ram.
Absolutely beautiful mate
Thank you.
Your a genius, can't wait to follow the truck build, Bry
@@bryantbrown8096 Thank you 😁
You sir, are a madman! 😮🎉
Certifiably 😂
Beautiful work as always mate
Thank you.
Sir, i am glad i came across your Instagram page. I think that your craftsmanship is the best I've seen in my lifetime !! I wonder if you have ever made an American (US) style 13 axle heavy haul ? Just inquiring. Once again, continued success and blessings.
Thank you very much. I’m based in Ireland so I don’t get many commissions from the US. Those that I do get are for cranes usually so I haven’t made a US style heavy haul trailer yet.
@Nansjohn Sir, thank you for your reply. I appreciate your content and I'm glad that you are sharing it with everyone
Gday, we all have to start somewhere and for your first crane it looks amazing…
Remember seeing that sometime ago, how far have you travelled since then. Really enjoy your weekly podcast. Bry
Thank you Bry.
Do you use plans from which to build the parts from, if so where would someone source them? Great work
Thank you. I don’t use plans for any of my models. I study the real machine and figure out how to make it.
@@Nansjohn wow, that’s incredible, thanks for the reply.
Excellent work
Thank you 😊
Do they just caster on a real trailer or are they steering?
They steer. The operator has a remote control to steer them electronically. There’s a propulsion unit that sits on one end to drive the trailer.
Very good John, what tools do to make the fine detail pieces?
Thank you, the tools I used were table saw, band saw, pillar drill, lathe and sander.
Beautiful work mate
Thank you.
Fantastic John, attention to detail second to none, love the close up showing even more detail and explanation, what can you make going forward to better these, the sky's the limit with your talented hands...
Thank you very much, there are loads more models in the order book so lots of interesting work coming up.
Gday, they look fantastic mate, lot of work but well worth it

Your creation is absolutely mind blowing!!! What people can achieve with total commitment..

Absolutely brilliant , your patience must be at another level. What wood did you use Bry
Thank you Bryan, I used maple for the root. The darker wood on the model is walnut.
Jeasus christ that's some level of skill!!!
It took a few years to get to that level @andrewgavin5191 😁👍
